Flash iPod vrs. HardDrive iPod

Once again talking of Apple equipment, we will discuss the difference between an iPod with a flash memory and an iPod with a hard drive. Many people might think, “Well they are practically the same thing just one has a bigger memory.” Let’s look into that a little closer.

The Flash Memory

A flash memory can be helpful for many things. They are small easily portable and can take quite a beating before it breaks, even getting washed and living through it. You can jog with it without any ill effects. Any activity can be done with a small iPod that has a flash memory.

One of the few downsides is that they normally hold much less music than an iPod with a hard drive. Most of the small iPods can’t hold more than 8 to 16 gigabytes, which is fine for many people. Another problem with a flash iPod is that they are manufactured with a small screen. That should be expected though, small iPod, small screen. But that does not make them good for movies, games or Podcasts. For some people that may be annoying but to others that could be just fine, seeing that most people don’t use their iPods for everything.

The Hard Drive Memory

Well the hard drive memory can be used for many things and is better for a person that is at home a lot. If you are looking for an iPod that you can use at any time without any ill effects, this is not the iPod for you.

The hard drive on a larger iPod is very easily damaged. They will break or become corrupted very easily. If you drop a hard drive iPod while using it, there is a very good chance that you will break it and the damaged that is cause by dropping it is usually not able to be repaired.

On the other hand if you are looking for an iPod with a large battery capacity, large screen for viewing movies, a large amount of space to put various movies or music’s, this would be the iPod for you. This type of iPod can last hours without dying; you can put thousands of songs on them, if not tens of thousands. The large screen allows for movies to be played without straining your eyes to see it. If you are the stationary type not wanting to leave the house, or looking for something that you can use on long trips in the car or airplane, this is a great iPod for you. A hard drive iPod can have anywhere from 30 to 160 gigabytes, and there are new ones that are coming out that are even bigger.

In most cases people won’t think of what they truly need out of their iPod, but there really is a few things that they need to take into consideration. So remember that you may love or hate your iPod, but it can also depend on you to find your iPod companion.
